Adult ADHD Assessment in Jersey City
The question of whether ADHD is what's behind the struggle has been with you for a while now. I provide comprehensive adult ADHD assessments for Jersey City residents, designed to answer that question in a single appointment. One two-hour diagnostic interview, a detailed written report with diagnostic impressions and personalized recommendations, and an ADHD tools workbook you can start using right away. All virtual.

What Jersey City adults often notice when they suspect ADHD
You've been treated for anxiety, or depression, or both. The medication helped some, the therapy helped some, but the underlying issue never moved: the focus, the follow-through, the constant sense of working at fifty percent and being exhausted by it. You're starting to wonder if you've been treating the symptoms of something else the whole time.
You can focus for six hours on something that interests you and forget to eat. You can also stare at a simple task for two hours and not be able to start. The work that requires your brain to engage without being rewarding (admin, expense reports, the email you've been putting off) turns into a kind of resistance you can't will yourself through. Other people seem to open the email, write the reply, and close it again. You sit with the cursor blinking for an hour.
The story you've been telling yourself about all of this hurts more than anything else: that you're lazy, that you lack discipline, that you're not as capable as people think. The story has been with you since middle school, and it doesn't stop generating evidence even when you do good work, because each piece of good work feels like an exception that proves how much potential you're failing to use.
You've been considering whether you're in the wrong job. The role looked right from the outside, but it requires the kind of self-directed structure that consistently breaks down for you. You're not sure if the right next move is a different role, a different industry, or a different way of working entirely. The decision feels too big to make without understanding why the current setup keeps failing you.

What an ADHD answer changes
You stop wondering. The question that's been with you for years (do I have ADHD or is something else going on) gets answered through a structured clinical assessment. The diagnostic impressions are documented in writing. Whether the answer is ADHD, something adjacent, or something else, you walk away with clinical clarity instead of another month of suspicion.
The story that's been the loudest part of all of this (lazy, undisciplined, not as capable as people think) gets a different explanation, one that comes from a clinician who's just spent two hours assessing your specific picture. The story doesn't disappear overnight, but each future forgotten thing stops going automatically into the same old pile.
You bring the report home and your partner finally has clinical language for what they've been seeing for years. The conversation about the forgotten dentist appointments, the unreturned calls, the bills you said you'd handle can start somewhere different than it usually does. Where it goes from there is up to you both. What you don't have to keep doing is having the conversation from inside the lazy-or-don't-care frame.
You walk into your next annual review with clinical language for what your manager has been calling "inconsistent." Whether you choose to share the report or just use the framework to think differently about the feedback, the meeting doesn't have to land the same way it has every year. "Has so much potential" has a different meaning when you understand the structural reason the potential hasn't been getting realized.
The report becomes the document you bring to your psychiatrist or primary care provider. The medication conversation finally has a clinical foundation. The anxiety treatment that helped some but didn't reach the underlying focus problem can be recalibrated around what's underneath it, if your prescriber decides that's appropriate. The final prescribing decision rests with your medical provider, but the conversation starts from a different place.
The career questions you've been making decisions on blind start to have criteria. You know which work conditions consistently fail you (open-ended deliverables, self-directed timelines, work that requires you to invent your own structure) and which ones consistently work (external deadlines, project-based assignments, a teammate counting on you). The workbook gives you strategies to try on your own, or to take into therapy or coaching. The work going forward has a starting point you didn't have before.
How the assessment works
The assessment runs two hours by secure video. The tool I use is the DIVA-5, a validated diagnostic interview developed for adult ADHD. We cover your current symptoms, how things looked when you were a child, and the impact on your work, home, and relationships. We also screen for anxiety and depression because those frequently overlap with ADHD.
You receive the written report and a practical ADHD tools workbook within 7 to 10 business days.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can adults outside of Jersey City work with you? Yes. All sessions are virtual, so any adult in New Jersey can work with me regardless of where in the state you're based. Jersey City is the home base for this page because the professional demographic across Hudson County fits the work especially well.
Will the report document whether ADHD fits my situation? Yes. If your symptoms meet DSM-5 criteria, the report includes diagnostic impressions of ADHD with the clinical reasoning behind them. If criteria aren't met, the report explains what the assessment found, what may be driving the symptoms, and where to go from here.
How does payment work? Payment is due at booking. The $900 covers the full assessment, including the interview, written report, and the tools workbook. Insurance isn't accepted for this service.
Will the assessment help me think about whether I'm in the wrong job? The report itself doesn't make career recommendations, but the diagnostic picture it provides gives you useful information for thinking about your work. Many clients use the report to understand why certain roles or environments have been harder than expected, which informs decisions about whether to change roles, change industries, or change how they work within their current setup. The conversation about what to do next is yours, but the report gives you a much clearer foundation for it.
What can I use the report for, and what is it NOT for? The report supports prescriber conversations about ADHD medication, gives a therapist or ADHD coach a specific clinical baseline, and provides you with a detailed understanding of your own ADHD profile.
Important: this report is NOT designed to support:
Formal workplace accommodations (ADA requests for extra time, schedule changes, or other modifications at your job)
Academic accommodations (extra time on tests, note-taking support, or other modifications at school or in college)
Disability determinations (SSDI, SSI, or private disability insurance claims)
Court-ordered or forensic evaluations
Each of those typically requires a full neuropsychological evaluation, which is a more extensive process involving multiple appointments and standardized cognitive testing. If you need an evaluation for any of those purposes, please tell me before booking and I'll refer you to a qualified provider.
How do I get started? Use the booking link to schedule your assessment, or reach out with questions first if you'd prefer.
